Creating a Patch of Place Value with Miss Lloyd and Miss Burrell’s Students

Miss Lloyd and Miss Burrell’s class combined their love of Autumn with learning! Students used their understanding of place value and writing numbers in different ways to create their very own scarecrows. Each child was given a pumpkin with a number. They then had to take that number and write it in standard form, expanded form, base-ten block form, and word form to create the body of the scarecrow. In order to do this successfully, students had to show their understanding of the hundreds, tens, and ones place. After adding a little love and hard work, students put together their very own scarecrow!
